aleatory contract

my own personal Waterloo

i think they're gonna make you start over (you don't wanna start over)

i want visions and wonders and signs. i want an omen. i want an oracle. i want predictions. i want prophecies. i want a purpose and a point. i don't have any of these things, and i don't know where to get them.

i am looking into a return to school. it is hard to convince myself that going back to school won't just make me broker and waste what little is left of my youth.

i was thinking, specifically, of graphic design. yes, i know what a bad idea that would be. my other option is medical transcription. it is not exactly a line of work which ennobles one's heart and stirs one's soul, medical transcription, but it would pay the bills.

Visions: You could cultivate your migraines. I wouldn't recommend it.
Wonders: Google says they never cease at Kenya's Samburu reserve.
Signs: Lots of signs around.
Omen: I was playing two tapes on two machines yesterday and just from fast-forwarding, they got exactly in synch. It was freaky.
Predictions: They sell Farmer's Almanacs in Royal Farms here. Want one?
Prophesies: www.bobdylan.com, go to lyrics page.
Purpose: Batwolf, open production studio, find apartment.
Point: Your existence has a point for me. Does that help?

What's wrong with studying graphic design? Plenty of jobs in it.

...moi? how DID you find me? i am Impressed.

nate: are there? i've cruised monster and the like and seen little to encourage me, and i also figured that the bust of the dot com boom has left lots of unemployed graphics types in its wake, all of whom would be competing with me.

Medical transcription would pay the bills, and the only sacrifice it would demand is your soul!

homonyms are your fiends, moss!

we've already run out of words to prefix an "e" to, things to append a "net" to, things to converge, and Synergy - and the new york times has written at least two articles on Blogs, which means they are officially over. whatever shall propel our next boom?

julia: true! i think retail already ate my soul, though. i could sacrifice my body, i guess, but i could get more money stripping if i wanted to go that route...

I don't know - combining medical transcription with prostitution could be quite lucrative. It's an underexploited market.

Yeah, we're definitely in a new boom. I found Craigslist a far better indicator of the jobs available. Designer jobs are definitely not the same ticket that any amount of programming is to get a job, and you'd DEFINITELY want to become a web-savvy designer. (Learn HTML & CSS and learn it well.)

But right now, and in this area, at least, there are plenty of jobs for the designer with a decent portfolio. And if you really learn something well (3-D rendering, video editing, flash) you've got lots of opportunities.
