i cannot believe the unmitigated racist, misogynistic, homophobic bullshit i am being asked to deal with at st. john's. i cannot believe the level of drug abuse that is tolerated at st. john's. i cannot believe any of it. i am going to the dean tomorrow, and i am going to talk to her, but i don't know how much good it's going to do. i don't know if i should even stay.

I've been there. I don't know what to tell you, except that not everybody there is like that, and the ones who are tend to become tax attorneys.
i think it may have gotten worse since your tenure here. i'm not really sure.
It is very possible that campus culture has changed in a lot of ways. I had always heard that the drug/alcohol culture at Santa Fe had always been different from the Annapolis one. But I thought in other ways (racist, sexist, homophobic) Fe was supposed to be better than Annapolis. I'm really sorry.
i kind of think it's something in the personalities of kids in this generation that's causing all the bigotry, and not the school itself. the school is woefully ill-equipped to deal with those attitudes, though. it has a hard time even recognising them, until the blackface makeup comes out.
