Yeah, they do that in Fe. (I got one because that's where I originally applied, even though I ended up going to Annapolis as a Febbie so I wouldn't have to wait an extra year.)

Oh! I knew Alexander Pope had translated it, but when I saw Mike's comment I thought that Ratzinger had translated it or something, and that had me thinking that worried would be an understatement.

mike: when i read your comment, i momentarily parsed it to mean that someone had mailed prospective students the pope. which would rate way better as swag. (i... think?)

i actually rather like the lattimore. i'd worry more about the puffy prose of the letter accompanying the volume, really. it's quite impressive.
